Real stuff begins, by Brad Bishop
HIS side might have touched up the Bendigo Bombers in a
practice match hit-out a few weeks back but Coburg Tigers'
David Flood is expecting a much tougher contest when the
side's clash at Bendigo's QEO in the opening round of the
VFL season this Saturday night.
Coburg beat a second-string Bombers' outfit by "eight or
nine goals" that day - the same weekend Richmond gave
Essendon a caning - with Flood recognising this weekend
will be a different story.
"They (Bendigo Bombers) had a lot of players out that day,"
Flood said.
"I'm expecting a good tough game this weekend."
"We play them up at Bendigo, which is a nice, big ground
and will hopefully suit our younger players."
As soon as this weekend's match is over the Tigers will
turn their attention to the following Saturday's clash
with Springvale - their first home game of 2005.
Coburg general manager Des Ryan said the Tigers were
hopefull of a massive turnout for the clash with one of
last season's battlers.
