Anthony would be late 20s, I don't think we will see him back as I was led to believe that he was in two minds about this season,  now with the injury I think that may be it.

I was also upset about Campbell, one of the nicest young men you could meet at the club and in general. Was a real pleasure to have him around and although understandable that hard decisions need to be made I feel for him. In a conversation I had with him he spoke with a heap of love towards the club and how much he loved everything about the place. I kniw he will be hurting.

Definitely several big outs, thankfully good recruiting I feel has put together a team roughly as good as last year on paper with the big difference being a improved fitness level. Been to a couple of training sessions and the lads are working hard on fitness so hopefully that converts to less last quarter fade outs and able to finish off the game when we are in a commanding position. I've never been so confused about what to expect from Port, I feel like last season our good will be good enough to beat anybody but I dont expect immediate consistency. I'm hoping for 6th or better but expecting somewhere 7-10.

Digs and I can never agree, for several seasons I thought we would go well without Digs agreeing after a few tough seasons I now don't share his optimism of winning the last match of the 2025 season !

* disclaimer Yes Digs i know that the winning comment was tongue in cheek

Did some checking, Red's DOB is 11/12/1993 so he's 31yo, hard to see him coming back at 32yo from a second knee reco

In response to your post from only 2 months ago, apparently he is healing well and has hopes of playing this year. I’m guessing that optimism and the sands of time ticking may be clouding his judgement, as much as I would love to see him inject that speed back into the side I’m always a little cautious about quick return from ACLs - they often result in further injuries. At 31 the mentality may be its now or never,

I believe Red is back doing running (from comments made by commentators during the Southport game I think). There were hopes he was potentially only 4 weeks away.. which if true is phenomenal and a touch risky like you say Mega.

In other news, Charlie Clarke has made a mid-season switch from the Port Melbourne Colts, to the Borough.  A local kid, who played just the one game for the Western Bulldogs before being delisted.  By all accounts he has been in good form in the Sourthern League and may debut for the Borough in the next couple of weeks.

Coach Brendon McCartney speaks highly of him, and he has been involved in training and match planning meetings for a little while now.

That was reported by Paul Amy, who is the best in the business.

I’m thinking perhaps Red didn’t haveACL injury but a lesser problematic knee injury. With no official injury list put out by the club it’s all hearsay from the north port terraces. I might email them and ask about a injury update team list like they had in the past

[Edited again: actually disregard most of this paragraph because the club injury list does say "ACL." I could have sworn it said "knee", but I just checked again, and it says "ACL." He must have had the same surgery as Sam Docherty last year to be on this quick a timeline. Sorry for posting without checking the injury list properly.] That would be great if it wasn't an ACL. There actually is an injury list on the club's website, though it hasn't been updated yet for this week - it's one of the tabs under "Our Teams." But it just says "knee" for Anastasio. It lists him as being 5-6 weeks away. If that was true as of last week, and if he did do an ACL in January, he'd be on a similar timeline to Sam Docherty last year - a bit faster but perhaps the updates are a bit overoptimistic as well, so I don't know that the timeline does rule out an ACL. Whatever the injury was, it was something that required a full leg brace and crutches as of the first preseason game in Ballarat.

ETA: the injury list for the VFLW team has been at least partly updated since last week since some of the VFLW players listed last week as injured are no longer on the list. But the VFL injury list doesn't seem to have been updated since there's no information yet about AJ Kuol Mun.

Second edit: Anastasio was the runner for the Bullants game and the Southport game (he was shown briefly on the livestream as the runner, or at any rate a runner, in the Southport game). Also during the pregame onfield warmup before the Bullants game, he was doing change of direction exercises and looked good.

That's fantastic news Spicy.  If he can return, hopefully it hasn't significantly impacted his evasive skills.  I feel that his pace has slowed a little in these last years, but he has the footy smarts to still make a big impact.

Thanks Spiny for the information regarding the injury list,so it does look like our forward line will have to wait until after mid year to see Baldwin (if they chose to play him there) and Davey return whilst Farrant and Sigs have been omitted to make way for others. I have a feeling when Sigs comes back he will come back strong as he has never been in the situation of having a forced break and will have a point to prove. If the rumours are true (nothing official) our forward line could be assisted by ex bulldog Charlie Clarke.

Last week Cahill now Clarke, it’s a surprise that not all positions are filled and theirs room for new inclusions.

You're welcome; yeah, it does look like it will be a while before Baldwin is back. Agreed that Signorello should come back fired up to prove a point. There's Luca Alessio as a new signing who debuted two weeks ago as well - I've also wondered where the list space for the new signings is coming from.

It was great to see Anastasio back to running - his ball handling skills are so good that he hopefully will be able to make a positive impact this season despite any possible effects of the injury.
