The VFL State selectors have revised the VFL State Squad ahead of training tonight (18/5) and Thursday prior to Saturday's match.

Unfortunately Sam Gibson (Box Hill Hawks) and Matthew Tyler (North Ballarat) will miss out due to injuries.

The squad will be further revised to a travelling party of 24 after the training on Thursday. WA have agreed to play 23 players, in line with the VFL 23rd Player rule.

PORT Melbourne coach Gary Ayres charged on to the City Oval to embrace his players after they hustled home with six goals in the last quarter to defeat the Box Hill Hawks by three points on Saturday. Williamstown recruit Dean Galea’s seventh goal put the Boroughs in front with 63 seconds left.

There were 6 tipsters that picked seven winners for Round 6. David Lumley an old Camberwell cobras fan but now a diehard borough supporter was nearest the aggregate score for the ABC game between Frankston 29 Collingwood 120 (total 149pts). Dave selected 173 points and pipped his fellow Port supporter Comeng who had 176 points. Bendigo Bombers supporter and former player with the Diggers 'Sammy' had 223 points, old Oakleigh fan Heitschy picked 183 points, Garry Hayes who has jumped to equal third picked 224 points with Beachy picking 179 points. Another $30 will go to the tipster who picks seven winners for next weeks games. If more than one tipster picks seven winners, the tipster nearest the aggregate score for the Sandringham v North Ballarat game will collect. If no tipster picks seven it will jackpot to $60 to the following week.

The next aggregate score match will be the Round 7 ABC match between Sandringham v North Ballarat clash. Tipster nearest the aggregate score will collect $40.

NORTH Ballarat arose from an unwanted slumber to steamroll Werribee Tigers by 51 points in the Victorian Football League at Eureka Stadium Ballarat yesterday.
The Selkirk Roosters strayed from their usual strict work ethic after an energetic start to let the struggling Werribee make the running.

THE Bendigo Bank Bombers' rapid improvement in the VFL continued on Saturday when they defeated Sandringham by 16 points.
The Bombers entered the match at Trevor Barker Beach Oval having lost their previous 10 encounters against the Zebras by an average of 37 points.

However, Sandringham's stranglehold over Bendigo has now been broken after the Bombers won 16.17 (113) to 15.7 (97).

Gold Coast Football Club has made six changes to its squad for this Saturday’s game against Geelong at Fankhauser Reserve, Southport at 2.00pm.

This week first gamer Lewis Moss comes into the forward line. Backmen Stanis Susuve, Mitch Harley and Piers Flanagan will also debut. In form centre half back Michael Coad will move forward in Charlie Dixon’s absence through injury.
