The 22-year-old former Tasmanian polled 97 votes to defeat Melbourne left-footer Matthew Bate (81) and a hard-finishing Brendan Fevola (69).

BARBS have been flying in State Parliament before tomorrow's VFL grand final between Port Melbourne and Williamstown.

Heated words were exchanged between the Labor MPs from the rival suburbs, with Port's Martin Foley (below) challenging Willy's Wade Noonan (bottom) to fly the winning team's flag from the loser's town hall.
