Nick Sautner announced Sandringham Captain
The Annual Jumper Presentation was a huge success on Wednesday night with more then 130 people turning out at the new look social club to watch the Zebras boys receive their jumpers, Head Coach Andy Lovell and St.Kilda development coach Brian Royal spoke to the packed house about hard work and commitment and how far it could take you… Hopefully the boys take the words on board!
Also announced on the night was the captain and leadership group for the 2010 season. A huge congratulations goes out Nick Sautner who was selected as captain for the year, Nick brings a great deal of experience to the side and is Sandringhams all time leading goal kicker and is also the games record holder for the mighty Zebras. Nick will be supported by a leadership group which consists of Shane Tregear, Maddison Hardiman, Cam Hunter, Brad Howard and Ricky Ferraro. WELL DONE BOYS AND DO THE ZEBS PROUD!
Sandringham is looking to get a win on the board first up in their round one game at Frankston this Sunday. With 28 new players on the list the Zebras are looking for some fresh faces to make an immediate impact. We haven’t landed any new AFL players but we have managed to snag a couple of other handy players – James Magner is a bulldog in the midfield and was impressive at Frankston last year, Brad Howard has been on an AFL list and is an accomplished VFL player, Chris Irving has been right up there with the best in the mornington peninsula competition for the past few years and Jay Bruno is coming off a league best and fairest in the Southern Footy League add to this mix the winner of the past two club b+f's at the Bendigo Pioneers, Kallen Geary and the future looks bright at Trevor Barker Oval. These guys go along with seasoned campaigners Nick Sautner and David Gallagher who are the only two remaining from the 04 – 06 threepeat and other long term players Shane Tregear, Tom Paterakis and Chris Waller and the Zebras could surprise a few teams!
Some new faces at the club:
Brad Howard (St.Kilda), James Magner (Frankston), Michael Lourey (Frankston), Cam Hunter (Balwyn), Chris Irving (Seaford), Jay Bruno (St.Kilda City), Dylan Jones, Jonno Nash (Sandringham Dragons) Kallen Geary (Bedigo Pioneers), Nick Benbow (Frankston), Matt Murnane (Port Adelaide Magpies)
