Body:
Thank god the footy is finally back.
Pretty warm at Frankston Park, but the Dolphins held out Sandringham by 16 points:
Frankston 13 11 96
Sandringham 11 14 80
A bit of a sloppy start to the campaign with both sides needing the run to blow out the cobwebs and sharpen up the skills.
Best for Frankston were probably Berry, Eames, Black and former Stingray player Aaron Murray, but it was a bit hard to pick better players as most were tried in various roles and rotated off the bench in the heat.
Frankston lost Brett Dore after about 4 minutes with corked calf.
For Sandy, Ezra Poyas was certainly the best player on the ground in the first half, but faded a bit after half time.
In the earlier game, the summer recruiting work which has resulted in what, at least on paper, appears to be much greater depth showed up with the Frankston Reserves smashing Sandringham by 149 points.
Frankston 27 14 176
Sandringham 4 3 27
Myles Krakouer and Tory Dickson looked good for the Dolphins, and former Stingray ruckman "Charlie" Manson didn't miss a knock all day.
Its good to be back at the footy.
