I was wrong, it seems that wooden spoon favourites the Northern Blues do want somebody to actually come and use 'their' function facility.
The facility which was once home to the highly successful Preston Social Club has been largely ignored by the people of the Northern Suburbs and with funds predominately going to the Blues its not surprising that the venue is rarely open for business.
Player sponsors have also been hard to come by for the Blues. At the time of writing only 15 people/organisations have come on board for the 2012, http://northernbluesfc.com.au/player.html .
The ABC and AFL Vic might consider televising the Round 22 Blues v Frankston game from Princes Park. It's only fitting that the Blues are rewarded with the spoon at their spiritual home!
Casual Event Manager/ Bar Supervisor
The Northern Blues Football Club are seeking an enthusiastic and driven person to manage the newly renovated function facility at Preston City Oval. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is motivated to succeed as the venue has enormous capacity for growth. The position is casually based with the potential for full time work as function facility expands.
The successful applicant will be a smart, organised, confident and motivated professional. You should also possess outstanding communication and customer service skills with a strong knowledge of food and beverages including experience working within hospitality.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the implementation and management of marketing and promotional strategies, internal and external communications and relationship management with key stakeholders.
You will also be responsible for driving function sales and ensuring delivery of functions; meeting the high level of service we set at Northern Blues.
You will possess the management qualities to not only handle the functions department but assist in the day-to-day running of the club.
