Coburg: It's time to find a forward
Body:
Just who is the main goalkicker at Coburg going to be for the rest of the year? After 12 Rounds, the top 6 senior goalkickers are: Kayne Pettifer 16 Ty Zantuck 11 Nathan Foley 7 Ryan O'Connor 6 Rory Hilton 6 Justin Blumfield 6 Pettifer has been back at Richmond for 4 weeks now, but still sits 5 goals clear. Ty Zantuck has also just been called back into Richmond team, but all of his goals came from two games anyway. Nathan Foley, who regularly added a goal from the midfield each week, played reserves last week. Is it any wonder the Coburg team kicked just 2 goals last week? Who can Coburg look at? Coburg's top 6 reserves goalkickers are: Alan Faraj 17 James Magee 16 Vin Randello 11 Adam Cosham 11 Leigh McDonald 7 Sam Lagozzino 5 I just wonder whether they could consider trying one of these blokes in the side? You could argue that none of these blokes are really tall, but the top 3 can play tall for their height. Cosham has obviously left the club, and I'm not sure where Magee is with injury. Then surely they could look at Andrew Briggs or Warren Carlyle, who could either play forward or cause a shuffle of talls (and say free up Ryan O'Connor to play solely as a forward). It's good that they've had a lot of goalkickers in some games, but they've also won a few because Pettifer, Zantuck and Houlihan have kicked 4 or 5. I just think good sides have a regular goalkicker - Sandy have Sautner, Nth Ballarat have Saunders, Werribee have David Mitchell. Even Frankston have Daniel Clark (and with Justin Berry as a small) who can cause danger. What do you think? Are they going to need to find someone who can regularly and consistantly kick goals for them?
