Just noticed the photo in the image gallery from this game. Awesome. Some observations:
- this is a 2nd div game
- dont know who the Eagle player kicking is, but judging by the angle of the ball hitting his boot my tip is its a mongrel punt that didnt score a goal (or a torp).
- i recall the Box Hill ground being notoriously muddy throughout the 70's and 80's, and Willy always struggling there.
- the Stangas in these days wore yellow shorts, not brown as they are now
- this was right in the middle of a bad era for Box Hill. They failed to win a game in 1977, and in this season won 1 (agst Willy when they kicked 14 goals in the first term) and drew 1. In fact the bottom 3 teams in Div 2 that year were Werribee, Williamstown and Box Hill
