Moves afoot to establish a VFA hall of fame

A distinguished football historian is leading the push to bring recognition to association football greats such as Fred Cook and ‘Frosty’ Miller — and the AFL has given him the green light to put together a proposal. Here’s how it would work.

ABC Back Roads.. ‘Rokewood-Corindhap

Last nights ABC program had a story about Victorian towns Rokewood and Corindhap that mainly focused on the local Footbal & Netball Club. Former Nth Ballarat champion Shaune "Spider" Moloney is coach of the footy team and he featured in a cuple of segments. . The show highlighted the importance of sporting clubs to small towns.

It showed a different side of Spider to his days as a fiecly competitive full back especially when playing on Nick Sauntner.  To those who remember Spider's playing for the Roosters I recommend viewing the show.

The program is repeated

Former VFL champion calls for new ‘Super League’ competition for Victorian football

With the VFL’s future unclear, a great of the league and suburban premiership coach believes the time is right for stand-alone and aligned clubs to be joined by local powerhouses in a new second-tier comp — and he’s happy for it to be called the VFA.

Crowd support in 2020

I am having a few issues with the voting poll function on the website so I have removed it for the time being.

However, I am interested to know (assuming crowds are allowed) whether we will see a resurgence in crowd numbers, particularly given less conflict with local footy comps this year.  I think we could be in for bumper crowds.

Perhaps a cheaper membership option for first time sign-ups could really boost the finances of clubs.
