They may be playing for different things, but the Roosters and the Bullants both have their seasons on the line in round 18 of the VFL and ABC Grandstand will be at North Ballarat Oval to bring you all the action live this Saturday from 1pm.

The Roosters are crowing as they come towards the end of the home-and-away season, flying high a game clear at the top of the ladder. After last week’s away win over Casey, North Ballarat will be brimming with confidence and looking forward to playing in front of a big home crowd.

LEADERS BOARD

George "Everywhere Man" Paras, who is currently working up a tan on Cable Beach after fronting up at the Broome Cup on Saturday, tipped 6 this week and has kicked 4 clear of the quartet of Bobby Borough, Kain Pollard, Keith Lumley and Paul 'Saints' Martinez who are all locked on 85 with another five tipsters - Con Milonas, Darren Tudor, Parry Paras, Stephen Allender and Vaughan Shannon on 84. With 3 rounds to go there are still plenty of chances.

SEVEN WINNERS- THE JACKPOT GOES OFF!

Simon "Gibbo" Gibson scored himself a lazy $90 by being the only tipster to tip all seven this week. Seven winners prize will revert to $30 this week.

GEELONG has thrown a spanner into the VFL-finals works after it overran Sandringham to claim a pulsating 11-point comeback victory at Trevor Barker Oval yesterday.

Having all but declared their season over last week, the Cats are now just one win away from breaking back into the top eight for the first time in two months.

In arguably their most impressive win this season, the Cats came back from four goals down early in the third to kick seven unanswered goals to stun the red-hot favourite Zebras 11.12 (78) to 9.13 (67).

Debutant in-waiting Simon Hogan delivered his most complete performance from an already glittering year, collecting 41 disposals and six marks.

Undermanned Bombers cop 20-goal belting

From the Bendigo Advertiser

CAUGHT: Bendigo midfielder Jason Johnson is tackled.

THERE are two ways in which the Metricon Bendigo Bombers’ loss to the Box Hill Hawks at the Queen Elizabeth Oval on Saturday can be viewed.

Firstly, there’s the negative, which is the fact the Bombers copped the biggest hiding in their history, losing by 119 points, 21.13 (139) to 2.8 (20).

Or secondly, there can be the positive spin put on it, in that the club gave opportunities to five players to get their first taste of senior VFL football.

In what was one of the most inexperienced - if not the most inexperienced - side the Bombers have fielded in their six years, Mark Arnott, Jonathon Gawthrop, Darren Granger, David Martin and Chris Mathieson made their senior debuts.

They were among 18 Bendigo-listed players.
