The VFL season remains up in the air, but Sandringham says if it does go ahead players will have to play for nothing unless the AFL covers all costs.

“Sirengate” 10 years on
Today marks 10 year anniversary of one the most infamous and bizarre days of football I have ever expierenced. The day when Northern Bullants timekeeper Shane Harris and myself turned up to the timekeepers box and all sirens were not working. Carlton did not have a back up and we ended up timekeeping from the driveway at Princes Park from firstly Frankston Dolphins van then later Northern Bullants Vice Presidents car using the car horn as a siren.

The AFL is considering a major change to the pathway into the game that would impact heavily on teenage Victorian footballers, their studies and the passage into the AFL.
The AFL is contemplating changing the elite junior competition that provides about half their players – the NAB League – from an under-18 to an under-19 competition, but still favours keeping the minimum draft age at 18.
