Clancy Wheeler is set to make his WA debut on Saturday after being added to the injury-riddled State squad.

The versatile big man is likely to mirror his usual Subiaco role by playing at centre half-forward and as the back-up ruckman against Victoria.

The 25-year-old Esperance product will replace power forward Josh Smith who suffered a calf injury during East Perth's win over South Fremantle on Saturday.

The WA selectors are waiting on fitness reports on up to seven other players, though coach Marc Webb was confident he would have a full squad to choose from.

Senior players Paul Bevan, Jake Murphy and Andrew Strijk were keen to play after reporting ailments from the weekend's round of matches.

Perth forward Brennan Stack was also included in the squad yesterday and is set to make his WA debut after a five-goal haul in the tight loss to Claremont.

Although Victoria intend to use the game to showcase some of their younger talent in a bid to have them drafted, they have picked a squad with an average age of 26 and 64 matches of VFL experience. Nine have played at AFL level, while another handful have been on club lists.
