Port Phillip Council have apparently denied Port Melbourne hosting night matches later this season that feature non community (AFL) clubs.
As a result, the release of the remaining fixture for 2025 has been delayed.
Port Melbourne Football Club are very disappointed by the ruling, as it denies the club an important revenue stream on those game days.
"The City of Port Phillip has blocked Port Melbourne from hosting broadcast matches at North Port Oval – because the teams involved, including Collingwood and Richmond, aren’t local.

I assume the council would have had to sign off on the deal before the season started? What's changed?
Yeah I'm not sure. I guess the channel 7 might broadcasting came about after the council had approved the initial contract.
It looks like Frankston and Footscray are in line to host these matches later in the season.. A big boost for both clubs if it works out that way.
