After 245 games with Williamstown coach Andy Collins has quit as coach after accepting a full time teaching role. He says he can't give the time to the role anymore.
I was told last week that 2020 was going to be his last year and that has proved correct
Sorry to see Collo go. A quality coach. I wonder who will get the gig at Williamstown in 2021.
With all the assistant coaches from the AFL out of a job there would be no shortage of applicants I would imagine
A big hole to fill.
When he first started playing at Sandringham after coming from Hawthorn as a 20 Year old he was studying to be a teacher at Burwood Teachers College
Has he really coached 245 matches at Williamstown he has only been there for 6 seasons. That would be 41 games a season!!
no billy, 245 VFL games, coached about 120 games at Willi, third longest-serving coach after Gerry Callhan and Brad Gotch
Probably the biggest story of the season yet not one mention in either of the dailies printed editions.
Unfortunately shows how little interest there is in 2nd tier footy in this town.
Wally,Andy Collins also won the Sandringham B&F in the one year 1985 he played for the Zebras. He had AFL star written all over him!
and every time Dusty Martin so much as farts the Herald-Sun journos have an apoplexy attack
Did Collo leave Sandy the year after winning the premiership as coach?
Yeah he had a dispute with the Club in 1998 after being thrashed by Springvale in the 2 EF by 68 pts and was sacked/left the club before the 1999 season He was replaced ly Graham Yeats as coach.
He only spent 3 seasons at Sandy in his long illustrious footy career but played in one premiership and coached another.and won a B&F - not a bad effort.
