JACK Riewoldt moved closer to an AFL debut for Richmond with five goals to help Coburg fend off the Casey Scorpions yesterday.

With recruit Kent Kingsley managing just one goal, Riewoldt was the star in the Tigers' 13-point win.

"He is just getting better and better isn't he," Coburg coach Andrew Collins said of Riewoldt, who showed class and looked hungry for the ball.

Kingsley's effort was more workman-like, but Collins said the former Cat was cleary on the improve after a long injury layoff.

"He is getting better, he is very smart," Collins said.

"I don't think we will have him for very long, but while we have got him we might as well utilise him."

The Tigers finally slipped into gear in the last quarter with the aid of a strong breeze to get a grip on fourth position on the ladder with their fourth straight win.

"It was pretty rugged out there," Collins said.

"We knew it was going to be a tough day, hard game.

"We were struggling to find run but to the credit of the boys in the last quarter, in particular, we got a few players come through the lines.

"There was a really strong breeze out there. We were glad we were kicking with it in the last quarter."

Casey defender Max Hudghton played three quarters after long-term injury and looked solid and steady.

Williamstown, at home, produced its best performance of the season to thump Frankston by 65 points yesterday.

"It was a very good win, to win by over 10 goals," coach Brad Gotch said.

"Frankston came out of the blocks pretty well but we weathered that after about 15 minutes and were level with them at quarter-time.

"We had a slight breeze advantage in the second quarter and we kicked six goals to one to put a pretty big gap in it at halftime.

"We continued on in the second half outscoring them by about five or six goals and won by 65 points."

Willy has now moved into third behind Geelong and Sandringham. Sandy had a bye in this round.

"It was our best team performance of the year so we are pretty excited about that and as far as the four quarter intensity which we have been striving towards," Gotch said.

"But there is still a lot of work to do for us.

"We will get a good gauge on Saturday against Sandy down there about where we fit at this time of the year."

Andrew Williams kicked 8.2 as a floating forward for the Seagulls and Dean Limbach booted four.

"We had two two good targets. Williams played a bit deep up the ground and is hard to match up on when he is that sort of form. He kicked four in the second quarter."

Tyson Goldsack in defence starred and Danny Stanley and Ryan Cook were among the best.

Leon Davis and Chris Egan lined up for Willy but the third Collingwood curfew breaker from last weekend, Shannon Cox, missed with a leg injury.

Geelong coach Leigh Tudor was pleased with the Cats' 32-point home win against the Bendigo Bombers yesterday.

"It was a pretty high standard game, both sides had lot of good players," Tudor said.

"James Byrne and Phil Read were very good for us, changing forward pocket and on ball.

"Steven King (four goals) was really good in the stoppages and he presented really well changing at full-forward.

"He kept marking them, he played very well."

Tudor was impressed with the Cats' opponents.

"(Scott) Camporeale got a lot of the ball and (Ricky) Dyson was good," Tudor said.

"They are going to be right up there. I liked the way they played."
