My unit is recorder only, but with capabilities to attach three separate components. I have two already attached, with the third set aside for a VCR.
We hardly ever use tape nowadays as my recorder uses RAM discs, which can be used up to 10,000 times before any degradation of picture quality. RAM discs are just like video tape whereas you can use them over and over again once you have deleted what is already on them.
A recorder with a built-in hard drive is even better as you can post-edit what's on the hard drive before recording the final copy.
Maybe we should start another thread as we are now way off topic.
I agree, but copywrite protection was not going to be a problem for me as I am copying "home" tapes.

The tapes from those days are getting pretty grainy :(
Well done mate, but you should have got a -r / -rw machine. The one you have's discs will only work on the few machines that are +r.
But having said that i would love to get hold of the 1977 2nd Division Grand Final between Mordialloc and Yarraville
