The atmosphere and buzz from the Frankston v Casey game was amazing.  I've been watching the old VFA dating back to the late 60s and Saturday night would rate as one of the best. The atmosphere on the hill is as good as it gets. Night footy at Frankston is a winner. If the dolphins can some how get a win at Southport the support for Frankston will be massive come grand final day. Southport are a very good team though and might be tough for the dolphins but you never know.  You got to be in it to win it.

VFA you're spot on.....the atmosphere at these Frankston games just continues to get better and better. My memory from the 80s might be hazy, but I can't recall anything quite like this. The tension at the 25 minute mark on Saturday night was like any AFL final. The boys have most definitely caught the local imagination.

Southport......well, don't think away finals get tougher than this. The Sharks have a point to prove after not quite getting there two years running. I just hope to see a Frankston team that throws everything at them and doesn't mentally destroy themselves like they did v Footscray. I think lessons were learnt that day, but we will find out for sure on Saturday. I think our boys would love another tilt at the Dogs.....it's all there to play for.

Stunned by what I'm watching today. So much hope, so much optimism, so much momentum. And this is how it ends.

I was bracing for a loss, but Christ I genuinely had hope that they would make Southport work for it. To say this day has been a disaster would be a monumental understatement. Before this game started I was thinking we'd reach 2000 members next year, but I have a sick feel that this performance will have destroyed so much good will that's been built up over the past two years.

Not one to disagree unless your nickname is Digs but today's performance won't be season defining- the hearts and minds of the Frankston public have been won with a great season and I believe off field growth is inevitable. Well done on a great season and progressing further than any other Melbourne stand alone club - who would have thought even last year that Frankston woukd progress further in a season than the traditionally stronger sides ? as.a Port fan I can say 5 years ago I would never have thought that I would say that I'm  envious - surely I'm.not the only one. Well done and may you have many more years of success (except v port)

I have some worries that it's going to hurt our image, if I'm being honest. There was a massive amount of hype surrounding this game and watch parties happening at both the club and the Frankston RSL. For some it might have been the first Frankston game they've watched this year.

I still think we've got the list to succeed and only need to target a couple of key players in the offseason. But I think the next step is mentality, both within the playing group and within our supporter base. I hear too much rhetoric of "oh it's too hard to play at Southport" or "oh it's too hard to compete with AFL-listed players". After thrashing a stacked Collingwood side, drawing with Brisbane, and beating Casey in a final, we should be going any game believing it's winnable. But we're too quick to fall on these excuses when the team isn't competitive in a game.

Southport are a very good team and on Sunday they will show it with a win over Footscray. Frankston have been great. Disappointing against Southport but with their season have lost no admirers and are slowly climbing to the top. If they keep majority of players and maybe recruit a couple for next season can give it an almighty shake.
