Robbo's VFL Round 1 Preview
Body:

The cricket is over so here is the Preview for VFL Round 1

SATURDAY
Sandringham vs Coburg Tigers at Trevor Barker Oval 1:10pm(ABC1 TV Live)
(VFL Reserves Curtain Raiser starts at 10:10am)
Last time they met: Rd 4 2010 at Sandringham. Sandringham 10-18(78) def Coburg Tigers 10-10(70).
Interesting game to kick off the year after both disappointed in 2010. Brett Lovett returns to the VFL to coach the Zebras while Adam Potter makes his debut as coach of Coburg. Both teams have recuited heavily over the Summer. I think the Zebras at home should win this game alothugh narrowly.
My Tip: Sandringham by 9pts

Box Hill Hawks vs Port Melbourne at Box Hill 2pm(3WBC)
(VFL Reserves Curtain Raiser 11am)
Last time they met: 1st SF 2010 at TEAC Oval. Box Hill Hawks 14-11(95) def Port Melbourne 12-17(89).
These 2 start the season almost where they left off after a classic Finals game last year. Box Hill have lost a few players to the AFL and will need players to step up this season under new coach Damian Carroll. The Borough have recuited some expierence especially with Rose and Skipper coming the club. Should be another close game but the Borough to win.
My Tip: Port Melbourne by 11pts

Northern Bullants vs Bendigo Bombers at Visy Park 2pm
(VFL Reserves Curtain Raiser Northern Bullants vs Casey Scorpions at 11am)
Last time they met: Rd 1 2010 at Visy Park. Northern Bullants 16-13(109) def Bendigo Bombers 9-10(64).
These 2 sides almost 12 months on from last time they met. Northern Bullants under new coach Darren Harris look as if they will be one of top teams again in 2011. Bendigo Bombers have recruit forwards Matt Little and Tory Dickson to club along with Justin Maddern to bolster their list. Bullants at home look too strong.
My Tip: Northern Bullants by 33pts

Werribee vs Williamstown at Avalon Airport Oval,Werribee 7pm
(Curtain Raiser VFL Reserves Curtain Raiser at 4pm)
Last time they met: Rd 16 2010 at Werribee. Williamstown 22-11(143) def Werribee 13-16(94).
These 2 local rivals begin the season under lights. Werribee have recruited strongly under new coach Paul Slattery and will be looking for a better showing in 2011. For the Seagulls it starts again after another disappointing finals jourMy Tip: Williamstown by 29pts

Casey Scorpions vs Geelong at Casey Fields 7pm(Casey Radio)
Last time they met: Rd 1 2010 at Casey Fields. Casey Scorpions 9-18(72) def Geelong 9-10(64).
Casey will be happy Round 1 has arrived after all the off field issues and I believe they can beat a Cats side that is rebuliding after a disappointing 2010. My Tip: Casey Scorpions by 31pts

SUNDAY
Frankston vs Collingwood at Frankston Park 2pm(Aussie Digital(SEN2) from 1:30pm
(Curtain Raiser Under 15 Local Curtain Raiser at 11am)
Last time they met: Rd 6 2010 at Frankston. Collingwood 18-12(120) def Frankston 3-11(29).
Takryn Lockyer takes over as Pies VFL Coach this year with sucha strong AFL List Collingwood will be there abouts in VFL as well. The Dolphins who are on a 14 game losing streak will be looking to start the season with an upset in front of what should be a big home crowd with the 1st game in the rebulit grandstand and a new electronic scoreboard as well. The Pies will be too good.
My Tip: Collingwood by 32pts

SENIORS BYE- North Ballarat (they play East Perth in Foxtel Cup at Patersons Stadium in Perth on Saturday)

RESERVES BYES- North Ballarat,Frankston(have practice match vs Rosebud at Olympic Park,Rosebud on Friday Night)
