Paul Amy has penned another excellent article (behind a paywall) on the dangers that clubs including Coburg face in the modern landscape and called on the VFA clubs to honour the name of the competition.
If I can find a link to the article, I'll post it up. It appeared in Mondays Herald-Sun.

How would it work though in practice if the AFL would let it anyway
I think it would be a logo that appeared somewhere on the jumper or shorts.
But I agree the AFL has never been a supporter of the VFA so it's hard to see them acknowledging the milestone.
Also can someone clarify is the 150th anniversary of the VFA 1877-2026 or 1877-2027?
That one always catches me out.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
It’s been 147 years since 1877 so the who knows when they will say it’s the anniversary as these things are usually off by one
2026 will be the 150th year of the VFA, since 1877 was year 1 of its existence. But the 1st anniversary of its founding came in 1878 (since the founding is by definition not its own anniversary), which means that the 150th anniversary of the founding will be 2027. It's the same principle as a 1st birthday marking the start of the 2nd year of one's life and so on.
Practically speaking, what this means is presumably that there should be celebrations in both 2026 and 2027!
Thanks for clearing that up Spiny.!
I think it's an appropriate time for the VFA Museum to be created so that more history is not lost.

You're welcome NorthPort!
A VFA Museum would be great.
Also as soon as a vfl standalone comes up with a good idea a afl club comes along and does the same. I may sound a bit crazy but I can’t help but feel the new footscray academy for Melbournes west is an attempt to overshadow werribees. Also on a side note I am sick of footscray acting like they represent the whole western suburbs footscray is very different to places in whyndam.
