Port Melbourne Football Club –  Season 2021 Announcement


CEO Paul Malcolm is pleased to announce on behalf of the board that Port Melbourne Football Club will be taking part in the 2021 VFL and East Coast Second-Tier Competition.

We are extremely excited to be taking part in the largest second-tier football competition in Australia which is set to begin in April next year and will consist of a 16-round season, providing all of our players with a premium standard of football.

It will be a true test of our men’s program to compete against the following clubs from across the east coast.

Standalone Second-Tier Clubs: Aspley, Coburg, Frankston, Northern Bullants, Port Melbourne, Southport, Werribee, Williamstown.

Standalone AFL Clubs: Brisbane Lions, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Footscray, Geelong Cats, Gold Coast SUNS, GWS GIANTS, North Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney Swans

Aligned Clubs: Sandringham, Box Hill Hawks, Casey Demons

With both our Men’s and Women’s teams now taking part at State level and we are excited about what this means for our players, staff, members, supporters, sponsors and volunteers and are very much looking forward to the 2021 seasons kicking off.



Today the AFL announced Richmond vs Carlton game will kick their season off on March 18, back to a normal 22 game season (probably 23 rounds). Rest of round 1 to be released next week,

VFL/ESSL and rest of AFL Fixture for 2021 unlikely to be released until the new year possibly as late as February. Also the likelyhood of the fixtures being floating fixtures so dates and times of games will be released in 4 week blocks. Although not confirmed yet. VFL/ESSL season not due to start before April 23. 22 teams 16 round season because of Covid.

AFLW and VFLW seasons to commence on February 1, fixture due out in next 2-3 weeks.
