FRANKSTON president John Barry is confident the club will be in the VFL next season but cannot guarantee its future beyond that.
The financially stricken Dolphins are in a mess on and off-field and are open to alignment talks with an AFL club.

Frankston, one of just two stand-alone clubs with Port Melbourne, receives $140,000 annually from AFL Victoria but is not guaranteed the same amount next season.

Frankston joined the VFA/VFL in 1966 from the Mornington Peninsula Football League.

"We are dependent on that (funding). We are also dependent on sponsors and gate-takings. We have lost a few sponsors because of the economic downturn," Barry said.
