Tv coverage.
I remember when the ABC covered some last quarters of VFA matches. When summing up after a game at Williamstown, the camera slowly zoomed in on a ship anchored in the bay.
My records are not complete. BLOCK = winner.
23/4/1960 Port v WILLI, ABC tv.
8/6/1963 WILLI v Port. ABC tv.
Also on ABC tv:
1965
15/5 Oak v WAV
22/5 WAV v Bru
19/6 BRU v Geel W
10/7 YAR v Oak
18/7 VFA v Tas

ATV-0
From 1967 until 1981, ATV-0 covered VFA matches in both divisions. The Saturday coverage was between races.
In 1967 I have 39 matches listed plus Div 1 finals.
I'm missing most of 1968 details, but know 4/5, Camb v NORTHCOTE.
In 1969, ATV-0 covered 38 matches plus Div 1 finals.
In 1982 it covered Div 1 finals, apparently the only games covered that season.
There are far too many to list here!

ATV-10
1984 I have only 2 h&a matches listed.
1985 ATV-10 covered Div 1 2SF, PF and GF.

1986, 1987 no tv listed.

ABC tv
1988 Weekly Div 1 match plus Div 1 finals
1989 -1993 apparently weekly plus finals.
1994-1995 dunno, was out of football following demise of Camberwell.
1996 - no VFA!

Camberwell was on ATV-0/ATV-10 on only ten occasions, five at home.

Im pretty sure the ABC started televising the VFA in 1957 with an Oakleigh home game as the first one and CH 10 did the finals 1986 and 1987 then the ABC took over in 1988

The 1966 GF was at the Junction Oval and Port beat Waverley but I cant remember if the ABC televised that game but in 1967 both Ch 0 and 7 did televise the finals at Punt Road including the now infamous Port v Dandenong clash
The finals returned to the Junction Oval in 1970 with Prahran as Premiers

Spot on Billy the ABC did televise the first VFA game in 1957.
We do know already the 1963 exists and that the 1960 VFA GF between Oakleigh v Sandy is marked as lost on the National Archives database. The fact that it marked lost means that it exists and either misplaced or sitting in someone's garage/desk/draw/cabin ?
Unless it got thrown out which I hate to think it did.
Interesting Cobrascorer that some home and away games from 1965 were televised at grounds such as Oakleigh, Waverley, Brunswick, v Yarraville and even a game between VFA v Tassie. Where was the rep game played at ?
Is it worth contacting someone in Tassie archives in case some obscure and remote chance that exists ? Nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose.

There is a bit of footage from the 60s on 8mm film floating around.

Have you checked the footage from the Local Footy Show that showed Brunswick v Brighton 2nd semi from 1938 at Toorak Park ? Check their website and search for the show shown on May 4.

I think the 1965 VFA V Tassie game was played at Toorak Park
Unfortunately its almost impossible to find VFA records on the web and the current VFL(sic) dont seem to care at all about the rich history of Victoria's founding competition maybe because the original VFL didnt exist before 1897!.
The VFA won a very close and high standard game in front of a big crowd. I remember Percy Jones playing for Tassie and Sandy's star full forward Dennis Oakley playing on a wing and playing very well.

His brother Ross of StKilda and AFL CEO always said that Dennis was the better footballer and should have played VFL.

Yep vfa you are right FPFooty was great but since they have changed it is is now pathetic and they seem to be taking forever to upgrade .I dont know why they didnt just leave the original site intact till they finished the upgrade.
