Announced today that Port Melbourne will be fielding a team in VFLW in 2021 taking over the license that had belonged to Richmond.

As part of this an agreement has been reached between Port Melbourne and Richmond that Richmond AFLW players not playing that week will be able to play for Port Melbourne similar to agreement that Williamstown and Adelaide Crows had this year before season was derailed by Covid.

Their home games will be played at North Port Oval.

The season will start in Early February inline with AFLW and NAB League Girls Competitions.

With the AFL expected to announce the new competition in the next fortnight its time for the ever popular topic of Port Melbourne player movements to return.

A big loss to begin with - Jarryd Blair is off. Had a great season with Port and probably played his best footy during the finals. Will definetely be missed as he departs to fulfill some coaching duties (I believe he is coaching Wonthagi Magpies).

EX-TIGER THE NEW COACH OF SANDRINGHAM

A former Richmond AFL player has been named the new coach of Sandringham and, with the Zebras appointing triple premiership coach Mark ‘Wilbur’ Williams as senior assistant.

The rest was behind a HeraldSun paywall so who is it? Nothing on the Sandy website either.

Good news to see 1 x time premiership player 3 x time premiership coach  Mark Williams back home as assiatant coach!
