SANDRINGHAM coach and St Kilda development coach Simon McPhee believes the alignment between the two clubs has been a success so far this year, following an impressive start to the season in which the Zebras have lost just two games.

Sandringham won four of its first five games this year, with a draw against Box Hill the only minor hiccup in what was an outstanding response to a lacklustre 2013 campaign.

“We were very happy with the way the team was playing early. The first month was great with everyone up and running,” McPhee told SAINTS.com.au this week.

“We didn’t have too many injuries and our side was full of quality players pushing for higher honours.”

However St Kilda’s spate of casualties began to take its toll before the bye last weekend and the effects filtered through to Sandringham against Footscray and Werribee in consecutive losses earlier this month.

“We lost our way a little bit in the last couple of weeks and we’ve had a few selection issues because we lost so many players to injury,” McPhee said.

Unfortunately due to injuries and St Kildas pretty ordinary list this impacting on the Zebras but that is the nature of the alingements.

Sandy would be advised to start looking for some decent VFL standard players from now on for next year and not wait til 2016

The zebras can take HEART out of Williamstown and to a lesser extent Coburg who have done pretty well so far this season.

Alan Richardson has been around the traps coaching wise and appreciates grass roots level having coached East Burwood.
Better than Ross Lyon who was too arrogant and called the VFL scum.
One time when he dropped some players he said you can go play with the scum. What kind of a coach says that ?? He might have a good record at afl level but his arrogance and disrepect for lower level football is disgraceful.
Richardson is a good teacher but obviously has had too many injuries which has impacted the zebras depth as well. True that the zebras should start building vfl talent next season in readiness for the 2016 season.

Lyon was cbviously looking in the mirror when he was talking of scum.I only hope the nasty piece of work never wins an AFL flag You only have to see the way Freo play to see his win at all costs attitude with their dirty tagging tactics. When was it alright to face a player and manhandle a player at bounces and throwins.

What a malaka he is. People in positions of leadership should watch their words.
