Tigers Sign Ablett, Ross & Ruffles
The Werribee Football Club is pleased to announce the signings of three former AFL
Players :Nathan Ablett, Ben Ross and Tim Ruffles.
Nathan Ablett made his AFL debut in 2005 and played 32 games with the Cats kicking 46 goals and played in the 2007 Geelong Premiership team.
He moved to the Gold Coast and played 2 games with the Suns in 2011.
Werribee coach Scott West is very happy to have him at the club “I think he is the key position player we were looking for and he will fit into our club very well. We are very pleased he is on board”.
Nathan is back living in Geelong and was looking to continue his footy “I am very excited. I am still keen to play and I want to do well with Werribee who I have played against a few times.”
Ablett joins two other former AFL listed players in Ben Ross and Tim Ruffles.
Ben Ross made his AFL debut in 2008 with the Kangaroos and played 14 games in his time at Arden Street. Ross finished third in the 2011 Werribee Best and Fairest Award and at 24 has plenty to offer to the Tigers midfield in 2012.
Tim Ruffles comes to the Tigers after 4 years at the Fremantle Football Club where he was taken pick 68 in the 2008 NAB Draft. Tim made his AFL debut in 2009 playing three games, a knee injury ended his season and after 2 games in his second season another knee injury forced him out. At 21 he has a lot of good football in front of him.
The Tigers have now signed all the top 5 from the 2012 Best and Fairest including joint winners Ben Sharp and Matt O’Dwyer.
I don't know if Nathan Abblett is a good signing or not... he doesn't seem to have much motivation to play footy
Agree with you on the motivation side. Perhaps having his cousin down there will help. A boon for the Tigers though, with Michael Tuck and Gary Ablett in the stands to watch their boys play. Gate receipts should go through the roof at Chirnside Park

Some impressive names there, the 'Bees may be in for a big season if Scotty West can get them all to gell ...
I think that if you are that desperate to watch Ablett play, make sure you get there early.
you don't think he'll even make it into the 'Bees seniors Digs?
If Ablett's attitude is switched on...he'll be an asset to Werribee
it's strange that a guy with as much natural ability as Ablett struggled in the AFL..yet a guy with with a tenacious attitude like Valenti couldn't get a regular game at Melbourne...
Put Valenti's attitude with Ablett's natural ability and there's a very good player

I think Digger is on the money as when Nathan Ablett played VFL with the Gold Coast his output was "very modest" at best. Averaging 4 possessions a game and not even a goal per game doesnt seem to equate or rationalise the euphoria emanating from Chirnside Park. He could be the poster boy for the new AFL Vic Development League !!!!!!

I'm with Digs. I think Ablett has a fair bit to prove. If he's fair dinkum he should do well. If he's half hearted he's wasting everyone's time.
Nathan Ablett is overated and just a very average footballer with little commitment and output. If he does put in and play well good luck to the Bees.
On what we have seen of Nathan Ablett over the past few seasons he is just a battler. On the otherhand Ben Ross will go well for the bees.
