As 2012 draws closer, and Port Melbourne begins its pre-season proper for the coming season, can the Borough rise to the challenge of back to back premierships?
Port have a growing list of departures after the premiership in 2011. So, with a drastically different looking line-up for the coming season it will be a tough ask to repeat the success of last season.
The Borough have lost players across all lines, from the full back to full forward, and a host of players inbetween.
The loss of Port's two quickest midfielders in Lynch and Batsanis may mean we see a different style of play next year, particularly if Bonaddio is fit and plays the majority of the season as the key forward.
I guess we will have to wait to see how it all unfolds!`
Not sure as to whether Bonners will be the great white hope Northport ???
Its going to be very tough but I think we have a top 4 list.
From 2011 we still have 15 premiership players and a number of very good players who missed out mainly due to injury.
Pitt, Bonaddio, Bentick, Keddell, T Johnston, M Johnston and Deluca will all be good to go in round 1 so I guess we have a good core of 20-25 players.
Our recruiting has been fantastic the past 6 years so hopefully we can add another 5 or so very good players to our list.
A few of the charger boys look the goods also with Mascetti & Purcell likely to see plenty of action in 2012. Would be great if we got Woofindin signed.
Keddell missed almost the entire season and barely played in 2011. It was a season cruelled by injury and he was unlucky not to be rookies by Richmond. Hopefully after a full preseason under his belt, he will be back in the sort of formal that had recruiters attention.
I'm suprised by the players who have left....I thought the lure of a potential back to back premiership may have kept the bulk of the team together....

The lure of money kills all clubs ....to lose 9 premiership players plus the highly regarded senior assistant coach Andrew Mirams plus the "highly paid" president is a tough challenge for the borough ...no doubt 2012 will throw up new challenges !!! Will be no undefeated sides in 2012 !!!!

"highly paid" president ????surely you're not suggesting Mr Saultry was PAID to be president, Burbank!!not even AFL presidents get paid, next thing you'll be telling us he got a car provided as well ....
Wow Wally you have mentioned this so many times. Just some sour grapes as Port Melbourne flogged Williamstown to win the 2011 premiership.

i've never brought the subject up at all, only responded twice to comments by gullsghost & now Burbank about the issue of your paid ex-president, and i'm not bitter about Port winning the flag, i said mid-season they may as well give you blokes the cup, Port were so clearly the dominant side, i'm just glad i was in India and didn't have to witness it .....
