Every match that I attend, I hear spectators call "Dropping the Ball", from my reading of the rule book, this is not mentioned, I would appreciate your interpretation of this call.

The last time I read the rules book, there was no law 'dropping the ball.' It's probably that these spectators haven't read the rules book! Laughing out loud I will check on that.

I always understood droppping the ball, was just called because the player hasnt disposed of the ball legally during a holding the ball situation.

Hi Onslaught, that appears to be the case, the player is either holding the ball, or there is no breach of the rules.

The rule they are trying to refer to is "holding the ball" rather than dropping it. Maybe someone needs to tell them there isn't such a rule called "dropping the ball"

I always thought the crowd roared 'BALL' whenever this happened!
That's what most of the supporters scream out at the games I've been too.
